This is more of a question than a diary per say, but I didn't know where else to put it. I recently came across the "Whitey" story and I was wondering what the background is, is it a sure thing it's false etc. This one story is making me a little wary about appreciating Obama's chances because I feel it will then be used as an October surprise. Is it a hoax or what? Thanks

given the argument it is hoax and I beleive it is , does it not fly in the face of that very argument if you cite boomberman speaking of the video like he has seen it?

his counter argument sounds like he saw the video... but disputes the facts.

Yeah Booman is just relying on heresay as well. He says "from what I understand," meaning he has not seen it. Booman's explanation is a red herring, the tape simply does not exist.

If they get enough people to believe the rumor, it won't matter that the tape doesn't exist. People will just assume that it does.

that there is a tape of mccain and maybe bush, saying he respects Bin Laden and can understand why he acts as he does.

Indeed I have. I also heard that there is an extended version of the tape which has, as the kids say, footage of a "lemon party" between them.

Well, I read your diaries and comments and while I didn't see a lot of praise for Obama, I did see you repeatedly state that you support the Democratic nominee in November.

Fair enough; implication withdrawn.

However, your diaries also indicated to me that you're sharp enough a) to know that the whitey tape is bullshit and b) realize that putting the word "concern" in a diary title is a bad idea.

nobody can come up with a tape. A guy named Larry Johnson claims to have talked to people who have seen it but he's been making this claim for months and can't deliver. He's also a scumbag who has been caught lying numerous times.

Ok well thank you, as much as I want Obama to win and feel he can, I was worried this might be real and would pop up in October so I figured I'd ask people who've been following it longer than I have. Thanks again.

Also, no I'm not a troll. I was someone with a question. I've been posting on this site for over a year, but I do see how it could be taken the wrong way.
